Self-taught professional painter since 2008, Yann FREDERICQUE has been exploring the material for 25 years. He first patiently dug his furrow in the footsteps of the great masters of Abstract Expressionism who deeply inspired him such as Zao Wou Ki, Rothko or Richter. Working mainly in oil and mediums created from varnishes and pigments, his very introspective approach highlights the liveliness of the gesture and the strength of the contrasts.
In 2016, deprived of a studio, he had the opportunity to open up to new techniques such as digital creation and then stencil following Street-artists such as Jef Aerosol, Blek le Rat or Miss.Tic.
These techniques then enrich his work and then make the link with his “profane” life as a commercial executive carried out in parallel via more figurative works which question nostalgia and a critical look at the massification of culture.
His creativity is expressed on supports such as canvas, wood but also aluminum panels, most often on large formats.
Yann FREDERICQUE souligne sa sensibilité envers notre société moderne à l’aide de la vivacité du geste et de la force des contrastes. En effet, il s’interroge sur la massification de l’Art imprégnée des tendances urbaines aux références empruntées à la culture de masse.
L’Artiste Peintre porte ainsi un regard détaché sur le monde qui nous entoure. Ses œuvres correspondent aux contradictions que nous pouvons vivre, parties prenantes d’un univers consumériste en permanence sur le fil.
Yann FREDERICQUE travaille principalement à la peinture à l’huile et aux pigments à l’aide de divers médiums.
